Job DescriptionExperienced School Receptionist

We are internally recruiting in conjunction with Epping St John's Church of England School, past of the BMAT Academy.
We are looking for a School Receptionist based at ESJ with previous experience working with Children, preferably SIMS experience and an up to date valid DBS check.
This role is working 29 weeks per year 8-4 weekdays Full Time, Permanent, Term Time plus inset Days

*To provide a helpful, supportive and friendly service to students, visitors, staff and parents and to carry out various administrative tasks.
Liaison with:
*Staff and students, parents and other visitors, outside agencies

This list is not exhaustive, but includes:

*To be the first point of contact for both telephone and face to face enquiries and take messages where appropriate.
*To receive and deal with enquiries from parents, staff, pupils and LAB members both over the telephone and in person.
*To greet visitors to the school and liaise with appropriate staff.
*To provide hospitality for visitors as and when required.
*To keep parents informed/requests to phone home.
*To ensure security procedures are adhered to, issuing badges, and ensuring visitors sign in and out.
*To monitor the CCTV.
*To clear answerphone messages left overnight.
*To clear/deal with/forward on, whole school emails.
*To be responsible for the sorting and distributing of incoming post and the sending of outgoing post.
*To be responsible for recorded/special delivery correspondence and maintenance/monitoring/adding funds to franking machine.
*To accept and sign for deliveries.
*To undertake filing, photocopying and reprographic work as required.
*To send faxes etc.
*To type and deal with general clerical duties, including mail merge letters, whole school and year group labels.
*To assist Head's PA.
*To offer support to teachers for various things, including locating teachers, students, etc.
*Accessing information on the SIMS system for telephone numbers and contact details.
*To provide general and clerical support to the office.
*Day to day maintenance of telephone system, franking machine and fax machine.
*To have a sound knowledge of using Microsoft Office and any other relevant software.
*To call the on-call SLT member to go to requested classroom.
*Upkeep of on-call folder. Photocopying and distributing completed forms.
*To be responsible for the general tidiness of the reception area.
*Ensure stock of paper/borders and other materials/equipment are available for displays and order when required.
*To be flexible and assist with other duties as and when required.

*To provide first aid care to pupils as required, keeping to the schools policy.
*To liaise with parents regarding pupil sickness/injury.
*To assist with the general welfare of pupils.
*To pass on monies/lunches/messages, etc. via the office runner to students.
Produce ID Badges
*Update and oversee staff photos for staff board.
*Take photos of new/missing pupils for SIMS.
*Generally assist all staff as and when required.
*Update folders in reception (feedback correspondence from parents/visitors, etc.)
*Set up hall for detentions and parents' evenings.

Supporting the School
*To fully implement all school procedures and policies.
*To participate in staff training days and external courses as may be required by the needs of the post and as identified by the Head of School/Head Teacher. The relevant first aid certificate needs to be fully up to date at all times.

The duties above are neither exclusive nor exhaustive and the post-holder may be required by the CEO to carry out appropriate duties within the context of the job, skills and grade.

Qualifications and documentation
1.Enhanced DBS and validated references Essential
2.Eligibility to work in the UK Essential
3.Able to demonstrate a good level of general education to GCSE standard in Mathematics and English or equivalent. Desirable
4.First Aid Qualification Essential
5.Full Driving licence - ability to be mobile Essential
